Trano – Vehicle Tracking & Speed Monitoring app

I was consulted to conceptualise and design ‘Trano Vehicle Tracking App’ for locating and tracking freight and assets on the move. 

Objective

To create an app which can be intuitively used to individually track the customer’s goods or vehicles when they are in transit. The application must give the user all the information at a glance like asset’s speed, location, addresses, mileage, time intervals, maximum and minimum stoppage of a particular vehicle, etc. 


Challenge

  • There was no app before this to understand and analyse user goals and frustrations. So, it was new for both the company as well as its customers and an experience had to be built ground up.
  • Create a unified experience on both web and mobile apps. 
  • The plan was to keep receiving analytical information on the asset’s position and movement while instantly reflecting the same on end devices.
  • To make each interaction as simple as possible for all users to understand and use without spending time on learning how to use the app. 
  • To display every aspect about the vehicle in separate screens throughout the journey 


Method & Ideation

  • Conduct user interviews to understand their needs and concerns
  • Develop a user flow
  • Sketches for initial feedback on the interaction design and information architecture
  • Create wireframes and prototypes  
  • Usability testing for feedback from initial designs, prototypes to release
  • Develop and populate sections to show detailed information like Asset’s speed, location, addresses, mileage, time interval, maximum and minimum stoppage of particular vehicle. 
  • Generate consolidated daily reports that are easy to understand.
  • An inbox style listing showing updates from vehicles in chronological order which auto syncs as info is received from the server.  

Solution

Developed an app which brings vehicle tracking info right into the palms of the users, making the process easy and simple.
